It doesn’t take much of a look at the political climate to see how broken our world can be. It doesn’t even matter what side of the political spectrum in which you reside. Depending on your perspective, society needs to change something.

For many, especially in this contentious campaign season, the response to such heated rhetoric might be apathy. If preferred candidates on either side don’t earn the nomination, the urge could be to abstain from voting.

Business in its Tainted Glory

Businesses can face similar difficulties. When you have a great idea but your product sits on a shelf unpurchased, it can be a disheartening experience, especially if you possess a core conviction that your work can make a difference in the world, if only people would sign up for it.

What’s the appropriate response when the conditions of the world seem to conspire to push you down? The testament to successful business, often time, connects closely to the resolute nature of its leaders. It’s human nature to fail quite often. But how do you get back up?

This space is where Oscar Wilde’s quote offers much inspiration. What do you love in the work you do? What do you love about the people you serve? Even if it’s just a small component of the picture, these little things make all the difference.

We live in a tainted world, but it doesn’t mean we should quit, whether it’s business or politics.

Today is the day to make a small change in your work to move the needle, even if it’s just half an inch.
